Masked Men With Apparent Weapons Knock on Delaware Homes

Police in Delaware are seeking information after two masked men, one carrying what appeared to be a rifle, were observed knocking on doors in the Mallard Pointe neighborhood of New Castle late Friday night. The New Castle County Police Department released images from security cameras showing the individuals approaching homes.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of Canvasback Drive around 10:50 p.m. Friday following a report of a suspicious person. Residents informed authorities that a man wearing a black hockey-style mask and a tactical-style vest approached houses with what looked like a rifle, knocking on doors before fleeing. Another individual, also masked and wearing a vest, was seen approaching a front door.

Authorities stated that four men were observed heading eastbound on Mallard Road, with two on bicycles and two on foot. A search of the neighborhood and surrounding areas by officers and a K-9 unit did not result in locating the individuals.

While police have not confirmed if the weapons were real firearms, they indicated that the items may have been airsoft-style guns. Anyone with information or relevant home security footage is encouraged to contact 911 or the department's non-emergency line at 302-573-2800.
