Two masked individuals were recorded on security footage banging on the porch of Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann's Massapequa Park home on Tuesday night, prompting his ex-wife and her children to file a police report.

Robert Macedonio, the attorney for Heuermann's ex-wife Asa Ellerup and their two children, Victoria and Christopher, told Newsday that the pair were home when the incident occurred around 8 p.m.

The footage shows two individuals wearing dark clothing and face coverings fleeing the porch as the family dog barked. Police confirmed the incident took place but stated it did not meet the criteria for an attempted break-in as no attempt was made to enter the home.

Macedonio stated that the family faces constant harassment, describing incidents where people drive by, make comments, leave items on the door, or take pictures.

Heuermann was sentenced in June to three consecutive life sentences without parole, plus four consecutive sentences of 25 years to life, after admitting to murdering eight women between 1993 and 2010. During his sentencing, Heuermann stated, "I’m responsible."
