Masked Attackers Shoot at Sydney Home With Children Inside, Set Car Ablaze
Authorities are searching for a group of masked individuals who fired shots at a residence and ignited a vehicle while seven children slept inside.
A manhunt is underway for a group of masked attackers who opened fire on a home and set a nearby car alight while seven children slept inside.
A 32-year-old woman and seven children, aged between three and ten, were inside the home on Shoreline Road in Moorebank, southwest Sydney, when it was attacked around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Footage posted online showed several masked men setting an SUV parked in the driveway on fire before firing shots at the garage. No one was injured during the incident.
The attackers posed with a threatening note that read, "You want to be a man Carol? Welcome to a man's world!" Another threat, understood to be from the gunmen, was sent after the attack, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. "I will keep going 'til you're out of this country (and) back to Lebanon. Call me Pauline Hanson," it said. "PS check underneath your car hehehe, might find a tracker lol. But not anymore. My souljas (sic) blew it to flames."
It is understood that a woman who owns a luxury car rental company is linked to the property. The group fled the scene in a white car before police arrived.
There was an earlier firebombing on the same street around 4 a.m. on Saturday, where a car was doused in petrol and set alight. Police believe the attack may have been a case of mistaken identity. A white Mercedes was reportedly used in both incidents and was found burnt out in Bankstown a short time after the fire on Sunday. Police are investigating if the fires are linked.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers. Reports can be made anonymously.
