Maryland Man Accused of Killing Girl Was Released From Prison Days Before
Tyree Reynolds, 23, faces 30 charges including murder and attempted murder in connection with the shooting that killed 12-year-old Khloe Ishway.
A Maryland man charged in the fatal shooting of a 12-year-old girl near a youth football game was released from state custody eight days before the incident, according to authorities.
Tyree Reynolds, 23, faces 30 criminal counts, including murder and attempted murder, in connection with the Saturday shooting at Leon Day Park in Baltimore. The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services confirmed Reynolds' release on Sept. 25.
Investigators allege that Reynolds opened fire on two men during an argument over a parking spot. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Reynolds retrieving a rifle from a backpack and firing. One of the men returned fire, striking Reynolds in the ankle. Reynolds then allegedly fired toward the football field, hitting Khloe Ishway and three other individuals. Ishway died from her injuries.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott stated, "Khloe was just 12 years old. She should have a whole life ahead of her... Instead, she was killed because two adult men resorted to deadly violence to resolve an argument over a parking spot." He added that the city is committed to seeking justice for Ishway and her family.
At the time of the shooting, Reynolds was on probation from a previous shooting conviction. He had been sentenced to 15 years, with all but five years suspended. Reynolds served the full five-year term before his September release.
Reynolds was arrested three times in 2021. He was arrested on a handgun possession charge and granted pretrial release. He was later arrested in connection with an assault and subsequently for a shooting that was not prosecuted. Reynolds ultimately pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and a firearms violation, leading to his 15-year sentence with five years suspended.
