Mary Cosby navigated the filming of "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" Season 7 with inspiring strength following the death of her son, Robert Jr., according to co-star Meredith Marks. "Mary, you'll see, her strength is so inspirational," Marks said on the Australian radio show "Jase, Lauren & Clint." "And I think it will be really incredible to watch."
However, Marks acknowledged that the upcoming season, which is set to premiere Sept. 16, will be difficult for Cosby, 53, as it documents her reliving the family tragedy. "Despite that, Marks believes the reality show 'gave [Cosby] another focus during a difficult time,'" the report states. "That's the downside to reality TV. You relive things later."
Cosby's 23-year-old son, Robert Jr., died on Feb. 23 after an overdose call that led to a death investigation. According to a 911 call, he was found unconscious and not breathing, and was administered one dose of Narcan before his death. Cosby and her husband, Robert Sr., released a joint statement at the time, calling their son "beloved" and expressing comfort in his being "finally at peace."
Robert Jr.'s addiction struggles were previously featured in Seasons 5 and 6 of "RHOSLC." In the trailer for Season 7, Cosby is seen thanking her castmates for their support. "I could not have got through without you guys," she says in one scene. "You all was there for me."
Cosby, Marks, Heather Gay, Lisa Barlow, Whitney Rose, Angie Katsanevas, and Bronwyn Newport are all returning for the new season. "RHOSLC" Season 7 premieres Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
