Comedian Mary Beth Barone has addressed recent dating rumors surrounding her and actor Joe Alwyn, revealing that their recent public sightings are related to an upcoming professional collaboration. Barone took to Instagram to announce that she and Alwyn will co-star in the romantic comedy "Still We Met," which she also wrote. Lena Dunham is listed as one of the film's executive producers.

The clarification comes after Barone and Alwyn were photographed together in New York City on September 17, walking across the Williamsburg Bridge and later seen at a local establishment. Barone shared images from the outing on social media, alongside screenshots of a Deadline article announcing the film. She captioned the post, "hard launching this project 😍," playfully poking fun at the speculation.

Alwyn, known for his roles in "The Favourite" and "Hamnet," was previously in a long-term relationship with singer Taylor Swift. Their relationship, which began around 2017, reportedly ended in April 2023 after more than six years together. More recently, Alwyn was linked to actress Sarah Pidgeon, with whom he was seen in New York City in June.

Barone, who also starred in the comedy series "Overcompensating," has previously navigated public attention surrounding her personal life. She humorously recounted a past situation involving dating rumors with actor Lucas Bravo, suggesting it was a manufactured "PR relationship" for her comedy special "Galaxy Brain."

In a separate interview with Cosmopolitan, Barone discussed her bisexuality, stating, "I actually don’t even have a type." She elaborated by saying her romantic interests are often complex, describing her "boy type" as "guys who aren't nice to me" and her "girl type" as those who "look like me."
