Martin Freeman Marries Actress Rachel Benaissa

Martin Freeman, known for his role in "Sherlock," has married actress Rachel Benaissa. The couple, who have been together for six years, confirmed their marriage with a joint red carpet appearance on Wednesday, where both sported wedding bands. Freeman, 55, wore a gold band, while Benaissa, 32, showcased her engagement ring.

A representative for Freeman confirmed the marriage to The Sun, noting that the couple began their relationship in 2020. Benaissa, who is French, has appeared in the BBC series "Normal People" and "This Way Up." She has reportedly formed a close bond with Freeman's two children, Grace and Joe, from his previous relationship with actress Amanda Abbington.

Freeman and Abbington were together for 16 years before their split in 2016. They share daughter Grace, 21, and son Joe, 18.

Previously, Freeman spoke about his relationship with Benaissa on Jessie and Lennie Ware's "Table Manners" podcast, mentioning their shared enjoyment of cooking. He also recalled a family outing to a "Sherlock"-themed escape room with his children and Benaissa.

Benaissa's acting credits also include a role in Lindsay Lohan's Netflix film "Irish Wish" and Aisling Bea's sitcom "This Way Up." She also has experience as a screenwriter, having developed a dark comedy-horror TV series.

Freeman and Benaissa made their first public appearance as a couple at the Raindance Film Festival Opening Night gala screening of "Best Sellers" at The Dorchester.
