Martha Stewart, 85, has claimed that Meghan Markle discussed her recent trip to the United Kingdom to visit King Charles with Prince Harry and their children. Stewart said she and Markle were both guests at a dinner party in California shortly after the royal family's return.
Stewart told People magazine that she and the Duchess of Sussex spoke briefly at the event. "I had dinner with Meghan Markle the other night. We were both guests at a dinner party in California. And she had just gotten back from the palace," Stewart said. "I didn't talk to her really more than to say a couple words, but I know she was talking about it."
The celebrity cook also commented on Markle's foray into the culinary world, including the launch of her cooking show, "With Love, Meghan." Stewart suggested that transitioning from acting to royalty and then to a homemaking expert on television presents a unique challenge. "If you're an actress, it's hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show," Stewart stated. "It doesn't sort of follow. So go from there."
This is not the first time Stewart has offered her perspective on Markle's ventures. Previously, she expressed hope that the Duchess "knows what she's talking about," emphasizing the importance of authenticity and subject matter expertise. Stewart added that she does not "mind" the idea of having successors in the lifestyle space.
Stewart's remarks come as Markle recently celebrated her 45th birthday. The Duchess shared videos on Instagram showing her dancing and celebrating with Prince Harry. The clips included moments of her wearing a tiara-like headband and engaging in playful activities with their dogs. Markle also posted photos of herself jumping into a pool, thanking followers for their birthday wishes. Her lifestyle brand, As Ever, also marked the occasion with social media posts.
Representatives for Meghan Markle did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
