Martha Stewart, typically not one for handbags, has expressed an unexpected affection for Gap's latest accessory collection, specifically praising a new denim tote. She took to Instagram Stories to share her fondness for the Five-Pocket Tote, calling it a bag she's "in love with."
While Stewart's preferred light-wash version of the Five-Pocket Tote has already sold out, the design remains available in a darker denim wash and several smaller iterations. The collection also features versions in canvas and a vegan suede material.
The new line of bags is the work of Reed Krakoff, Gap's executive director of accessories and former creative director for Coach. Krakoff stated that his design process involved studying iconic Gap items, such as the five-pocket jean, hoodies, and utility wear, to translate them into bag designs.
In addition to the tote, the collection includes a denim shoulder bag inspired by the brand's classic logo sweatshirts. The brand has also introduced purse charms, including lanyards and miniature Gap hoodies, to allow for customization.
With prices under $150 and endorsement from Stewart, the bags are experiencing high demand. Remaining styles are expected to sell out quickly. The collection draws inspiration from recognizable Gap elements, aiming to translate the brand's heritage into wearable accessories.
