‘Marshals’ Star Ash Santos Supports Potential ‘Dutton Ranch’ Crossover

Ash Santos, a star of the Paramount+ series Marshals, has voiced her support for a potential crossover episode between her show and Dutton Ranch, another series set in the Yellowstone universe. Santos, who portrays Deputy U.S. Marshal Andrea Cruz, believes such an event would be "iconic."

"I think the world of Kelly [Reilly] and Cole [Hauser] as actors," Santos told Decider, referring to the stars of Dutton Ranch. "Beth and Rip are some of the most iconic characters in television. I think they’re written so wonderfully, and there’s so much depth in their partnership on screen that people really resonate with."

Fans have speculated about a crossover following the similarly structured Season 1 finales of both Marshals and Dutton Ranch. The idea of characters like Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes), Beth Dutton (Reilly), and Rip Wheeler (Hauser) reuniting in Texas to protect their sons has gained traction. While Grimes, who plays Kayce, confirmed that his character would not be heading to Texas in the Marshals Season 2 premiere and that Beth and Rip would not appear in Marshals this fall, the possibility of a future crossover remains open.

Grimes has previously indicated that a crossover is not out of the question. "It would make sense that down the line we’d at least talk," Grimes told TV Insider. "[Kelly and I have] texted about it back and forth a lot, talked about how it’d be fun and necessary for our story arcs, however they’re going to end."

Reilly and Hauser have also expressed positive sentiments about a potential collaboration. "I love people that we’ve worked with over the years in Yellowstone, but the fact that he’s on his show and we’re on this show, if there’s a way to somewhere down the road do something special where he comes and visits us or if we go to Montana, great," Hauser told TV Insider. Reilly added, "Go find our sons. I think Beth misses her brother, so I would love that to happen. And we were all very close."

While characters like Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) and Monica Dutton (Kelsey Asbille) might be less likely to appear in a crossover scenario, other Yellowstone cast members, such as Gil Birmingham and Mo Brings Plenty, have already reprised their roles on Marshals. The prospect of other Yellowstone stars joining a potential crossover remains a possibility.

Taylor Sheridan, the creator of both Yellowstone and its spin-offs, is expected to have a more involved role in Dutton Ranch Season 2, which could further facilitate a crossover event. Fans are hopeful that these connected series will find a way to stage a significant crossover in the future. Marshals airs new episodes on CBS, and both seasons are available to stream on Paramount+.
