‘Marshals’ Season 2 Premieres With Shocking Character Death
Dolly Weaver meets a brutal end in the opening episode of the 'Yellowstone' spinoff.
The second season of the "Yellowstone" spinoff "Marshals" commenced Sunday with the on-screen death of a significant character, Dolly Weaver, portrayed by Ellie Jameson. The dramatic demise occurred when the vehicle carrying Weaver careened down a mountainside in the season premiere episode titled "All Hat No Cattle."
The episode saw Dolly at East Camp with Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) when they were ambushed by an attorney representing Dolly's father, Tom Weaver, along with two other men. Tom Weaver was seeking to acquire Dutton's land and had resorted to kidnapping Kayce's son, Tate Dutton (Brecken Merrill), as leverage.
Confronting the situation, Kayce attempted to negotiate, stating, "Tom wins. East Camp’s his. Just give me my son back." However, his plea was met with hostility. Dolly, questioned by Kayce about her potential involvement in the kidnapping, maintained her innocence and directed Kayce to where Tate was being held.
Despite Kayce's agreement to sign over the land after reaching Tom in Wyoming, the situation escalated. Tom Weaver had threatened Kayce, stating, "If you try anything, I will paint the walls with your daughter." Upon Kayce's arrival at the Wyoming property, he was met with an ambush by numerous armed men.
During the ensuing conflict, Dolly sided with her father against Kayce. Tom Weaver attempted to escape with Dolly in his truck, but Kayce intercepted them. When Tom tried to evade capture by driving off a cliff, the vehicle rolled down the mountain, resulting in Dolly's death.
Following the fatal crash, Kayce confronted Tom, remarking, "Living with Dolly’s death is the punishment you deserve." He further elaborated later in the episode, noting that Dolly's "only sin was not being able to break away from family."
The episode concluded with Kayce and Tate safely returning to East Camp. "Marshals" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and is available to stream the following day on Paramount+.
