Married At First Sight's Ellie Dix Opens Up About Miscarriage Before Pregnancy Announcement
The reality TV star revealed her struggle with infertility and a past miscarriage as she and fiancé Jono McCullough prepare to welcome their first child.
Ellie Dix, known for her appearance on Married At First Sight, has shared her experience with a heartbreaking miscarriage that occurred before she and fiancé Jono McCullough announced their first pregnancy. The couple revealed on October 19 that their child is due in April 2027.
Dix disclosed in an interview with New Idea that she underwent fertility treatment due to a low egg count. The pregnancy ended around eight to 10 weeks, a loss she described as devastating and a "really lonely time." She initially kept the miscarriage a secret from friends and family, fearing public judgment and the potential to trigger others. However, she has now chosen to speak out to raise awareness about miscarriage and infertility.
Following the loss, Dix admitted to feeling nervous throughout the early stages of her current pregnancy, with each scan and symptom bringing anxiety. "There's always an element of nervousness going into each scan and every little symptom you think, oh my God, is it going to happen to us again?" she said. "But we're just so grateful that this one has stuck around."
The couple announced their pregnancy on Instagram, sharing audio from their Married At First Sight episode where relationship expert Mel Schilling asked Dix about her future vision with McCullough. Dix responded by envisioning a "white picket fence" and a family, aligning with her desire for the "average Australian dream."
Dix and McCullough, who met on the 11th season of Married At First Sight three years ago, were initially matched with other partners on the show. They have been together for nearly three years and purchased a home together on the Gold Coast in 2024. The gender of their baby remains a secret, though they have chosen a traditional name.
The pregnancy announcement was met with positive reactions and well wishes from fellow reality stars, friends, and fans. Dix expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, stating, "It means more than you know to have so many beautiful people sharing in our happiness. We're so excited for what's to come!"
