The 2027 season of Married At First Sight is poised to be one of the most tumultuous yet, with relationship experts John Aiken and Alessandra Rampolla hinting at significant drama, including three major bombshells slated to disrupt the experiment early on. The upcoming 14th season will also feature the addition of a new expert, Marryam Chehelnabi.

Speaking at Nine's 2027 Upfronts, Aiken confirmed that viewers can expect a season filled with unexpected turns. "I can tell you there are three major bombshells early with this season," Aiken stated, responding to reports of cheating allegations, secret messages between participants, and romantic connections forming outside of established marriages. He added, "MAFS just shines a light on what's generally going on out there in the real world."

Details emerging about the season suggest a sprawling cheating scandal at its core. Wintah Cunnington, 29, who is paired with Kodie Wyatt, is reportedly accused of messaging other brides despite his stated desire to find a wife. Additionally, Chris Colombo, a carpenter from Melbourne, will reportedly have a second chance at marriage within the experiment, having previously married Pilates instructor Chloe in Western Sydney.

Rampolla echoed Aiken's sentiments, suggesting that such events are reflective of real-life dynamics. "It happens in real life too, and that is part of what we have to showcase in a reality TV show," she commented when asked about participants interacting with others' spouses. Both experts hinted at "boundary crossing" and the rapid spread of rumors among the cast, suggesting a high level of interpersonal drama.

A significant new development for the season is the inclusion of former Love Island Australia star Zac Nunns as an intruder, who married TikTok influencer Vanilla Milla. This casting choice has raised questions about authenticity, though Aiken defended the decision. "No, I think what we do on MAFS is we take all comers, because that's life," he said. "People have different backgrounds. It's how they are in the experiment that's really important to us." It has also been revealed that Nunns had a prior romantic connection with another bride participating in the 2027 experiment, a detail expected to become a focal point during a dinner party.

The expert panel has been expanded with the addition of Marryam Chehelnabi, a PACFA Registered Clinical Psychotherapist with a Master of Science in Medicine from the University of Sydney. Chehelnabi, who previously served as the lead therapist on Couples Therapy Australia, expressed enthusiasm for joining the team. "It's a very big deal to have her join the show for us, so we're very happy about it," Rampolla said of Chehelnabi's arrival. Aiken described her as "fantastic" and noted that the expanded team brings diverse perspectives to analyzing relationships.
