Tristan Black, a participant from the 2024 season of Married At First Sight, is embarking on a significant career change, relocating from Australia to Los Angeles to pursue ambitions in acting and DJing. Black, 33, described the move as a "massive gamble" due to the financial risks involved in leaving behind established work and building a new career from scratch in the United States.
Black revealed his plans to pursue these entertainment careers, stating that Los Angeles is the ideal location to develop his professional aspirations. While he gained recognition on the reality show, where he was matched with Cassandra Allen, Black has been DJing for seven years and has spent the past year training in acting. He has been attending acting classes, reading scripts, and participating in auditions in preparation for his move.
His goal is to establish himself as a DJ, with a particular interest in securing a residency at a pool club in Las Vegas. He also expressed a desire to pursue acting roles, even humorously suggesting he would be interested in a role in a potential "Friends" reboot. Black's relocation is intended to be long-term, with plans to stay for at least a year, contingent on his visa approval.
Black acknowledged that leaving his professional network in Sydney is a daunting aspect of the transition. He noted that while friendships remain, restarting his career overseas represents a significant challenge. This is not his first experience living in the U.S.; he previously spent a year in Charleston, South Carolina, working on cruise ships.
During his time on Married At First Sight, Black deliberately refrained from promoting his DJ career, aiming to be perceived as genuinely seeking love rather than using the platform for professional gain. Reflecting on this, he admitted he could have capitalized more on influencer opportunities following the show, but stated he became too self-conscious to consistently engage with social media.
Despite the career shift, Black has maintained friendly relationships with some of his former castmates. He also indicated that he would be open to returning to the reality show if offered the opportunity, as his search for love continues.
