Marks & Spencer Offers Affordable Alternative to Princess Kate's Sold-Out Skirt
High street retailers M&S, John Lewis, and Next have released lookalike versions of the Emilia Wickstead checked skirt worn by the Princess of Wales.
Marks & Spencer is among the high street retailers offering more affordable alternatives to a sold-out Emilia Wickstead checked skirt worn recently by Catherine, Princess of Wales. The original designer skirt retails for £1,450, while M&S versions are available for as little as £28.
The Princess of Wales wore the green checked skirt, paired with an ivory ruffled blouse from Daisy Knatchbull and a black coat from Catherine Walker, during a royal engagement in Belfast with her husband, Prince William. She completed the look with Cartier earrings, Gianvito Rossi pumps, and a jade Mulberry bag.
The engagement was part of Prince William's Homewards initiative, which aims to combat homelessness. The couple visited two projects in south Belfast connected to the initiative. According to Northern Ireland protocol, royal visits are kept confidential for security reasons until after they occur.
The Homewards initiative seeks to eradicate homelessness in key areas by fostering collaboration between organizations and agencies. The network involved in the Belfast visit, known as Neon (New Employment Opportunities Network), was launched in Northern Ireland in 2025 and has already facilitated the recruitment of 21 young people by seven local employers. The program is being expanded nationwide.
In a separate fashion note, recent reports highlighted an outfit worn by Meghan Markle in London, which was valued at £28,000. However, sources indicated that a high-street approximation of her entire ensemble could be found for under £500.
