Marks & Spencer Coat Becomes Viral Sensation, Resold at Double Price
A popular animal-print coat from Marks & Spencer has sold out online and is appearing on resale sites for inflated prices.
A £75 animal-print coat from Marks & Spencer has become a viral sensation, selling out across all sizes online and prompting a frenzy among fashion enthusiasts. The "Animal Print Faux Fur Trim Funnel Neck Coat," released as part of the retailer's autumn collection, taps into popular trends including animal prints, faux-fur trims, and funnel necks.
Despite its accessible price point, the coat has been noted to resemble more expensive styles from brands like Charlotte Simone or Rixo, which can cost upwards of £400. The high demand led to its rapid sell-out, with only a few units reportedly remaining in select London stores. Marks & Spencer acknowledged the popularity on its TikTok account, posting a video that garnered over 313,000 views and thousands of comments, humorously noting their inability to fulfill every request for the sold-out item.
Following the sell-out, the coat has appeared on resale platform Vinted, with sellers listing it at prices significantly higher than its original retail value. While some listings are around £105, others are asking for as much as £150, effectively doubling the initial cost.
For shoppers unable to secure the original M&S coat, several high-street alternatives are available that echo similar trends. These options include a deer print jacket from Next (£75), a leopard print car coat with a faux-fur collar from Ro&Zo (£229), a leopard faux fur jacket from Ro&Zo (£189), and a leopard print coat with faux-fur cuffs from River Island (£49). An understated animal print jacket from Omnes is also available for £120.
