Mark Teixeira Endorses Republican AG Candidate Saritha Komatireddy

Former New York Yankees World Series champion Mark Teixeira has endorsed Republican attorney general candidate Saritha Komatireddy, stating that New York needs an attorney general who prioritizes public safety.

Teixeira, who is also running as a Republican congressional candidate in Texas' 21st House District, shared his endorsement in a video message Monday. "New York needs an attorney general who will put public safety over politics and make sure New York State is one of the most prosperous, best places to live in the country," Teixeira said.

Komatireddy, a former federal prosecutor, is challenging two-term Democratic incumbent Letitia James. She expressed gratitude for Teixeira's support, drawing a parallel between his baseball career and her political aspirations.

"Mark Teixeira spent eight seasons in pinstripes, and he knows what this city is when it works: safe walking, a subway people aren’t afraid to ride, neighborhoods where families stay," Komatireddy stated. "He’s right that public safety has to come before politics. For seven years, Letitia James has had it backwards. I’m grateful for Mark’s support, and I’ll do what he did at first base: show up every day and get the job done well."

Teixeira played 15 seasons in Major League Baseball, with the majority of his career spent with the Yankees. He won five Gold Glove awards, three Silver Slugger awards, was a three-time All-Star, and was named Rookie of the Year in 2003. In the Yankees' 2009 World Series-winning season, Teixeira hit 39 home runs and had 122 RBIs.
