Mariners Prospect Kade Anderson Suffers Forearm Bruise After Being Hit by 104 MPH Comebacker

Seattle Mariners' top prospect Kade Anderson left Saturday's game after being struck by a 103.8 mph comebacker off his left elbow. Anderson was diagnosed with a forearm bruise following the incident in the fourth inning of the Mariners' 8-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

Anderson attempted to continue pitching but was ultimately removed from the game. He had allowed no runs and struck out four batters through 3 1/3 innings before being replaced by relief pitcher Michael Rucker. Notably, Anderson remained in the Mariners' dugout for further observation rather than heading to the clubhouse.

The 2025 first-round pick has been a bright spot for the Mariners, who have faced an otherwise underwhelming season. Anderson was called up to the majors in late August after a strong performance in Double-A, where he recorded 10 wins and a 1.09 ERA through 18 appearances. In Seattle, he has posted a 3.79 ERA with 32 strikeouts across 35 2/3 innings and seven starts.

Anderson's injury adds to a list of ailments for the Mariners in 2026. The team has also seen center fielder Julio Rodriguez miss time with a concussion, closer Andrés Muñoz sidelined for the season with knee inflammation, Cal Raleigh land on the injured list, and Luke Raley's season end due to a forearm injury. These injuries have led to the team using 115 different lineups this season.
