Marine Corps Osprey Catches Fire After Hard Landing During North Carolina Training

A U.S. Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey aircraft caught fire Thursday after experiencing a hard landing during a training mission near Bladen Lakes State Forest in North Carolina. Four service members were on board the Osprey when the incident occurred.

All four personnel aboard were taken for medical evaluation, according to a Marine Corps statement. White Lake Fire Chief Dale Brennan reported that at least one Marine sustained burns and was transported to a nearby clinic. Emergency crews, both civilian and military, responded to the crash site.

The incident took place during scheduled training exercises at Marine Corps Air Station New River. The Marine Corps has stated that the cause of the incident is under investigation.
