Marie Osmond's son, Matthew, recently married his partner Kaitlynn in Lindon, Utah.
Osmond, 66, shared photos and videos from the ceremony on Instagram on Sunday, September 8, calling it 'such a beautiful' celebration. She also noted that she and her husband, Stephen 'Steve' Craig, were enjoying a couple's getaway after a busy period.
In a blog post titled 'Sunday Message,' Osmond expressed her love for weddings, stating that 'having a wedding is one of my favorite things in the world.' She added that it is 'all the sweeter' now that her son has found his match. Osmond, who is a mother of eight and has nine grandchildren, described the wedding planning as involving a 'long list of details,' even though she was not the mother of the bride.
One of her responsibilities as a family member was arranging accommodations for her large extended family. Osmond has previously spoken about her joy in being a grandmother, calling it her 'absolute happy place' and a reason she prioritizes being home more often. She stated her desire to be a 'physical presence' in her grandchildren's lives and to be 'absolutely present' when they are with her. She fondly recalled instances where her grandchildren would sing her songs like 'Meet Me in Montana' and 'I'm a Little Bit Country, Little Bit Rock 'n' Roll' at school events.
Osmond and Craig share a son, Stephen Jr., born in 1981. Osmond was first married to Craig from 1982 to 1985, and they remarried in 2011. Her seven younger children are with ex-husband Brian Blosil, whom she was married to from 1986 to 2007. Their children include Jessica, Rachael, Brandon, Brianna, Matthew, Abigail, and the late Michael, who died in 2010 at the age of 19.
Osmond has also expressed her enthusiasm for grandparenthood in other media appearances. On 'The Drew Barrymore Show' in 2024, she described grandchildren as being 'like having your kids [but] on steroids,' highlighting the unique joy they bring. She contrasted the parental role of guiding children with the freedom she feels as a grandmother, where she can 'do anything I want.'
