Maria Sten Stars in 'Neagley,' Prime Video's 'Reacher' Spinoff

Prime Video is expanding the world of its hit series 'Reacher' with the debut of 'Neagley,' a spinoff starring Maria Sten in her role as the formidable private investigator Frances Neagley.

The series picks up with Neagley operating as a private investigator based in Chicago. The opening episode finds her investigating the suspicious death of a childhood friend, a case that draws her into a complex web of intrigue. Neagley, formerly of the 110th Special Investigators and a trusted associate of Jack Reacher, is depicted as a tough, independent operative with a personal code of honor.

As Neagley delves into the case, she begins a collaboration with Chicago police detective Hudson “Rats” Riley, played by Greyson Holt. The investigation leads them to explore a local farming commune, which serves as a halfway house for young people, and a pharmaceutical entrepreneur, Pierce Woodrow (Matthew del Negro), who is developing psychedelic treatments for anxiety and depression. The series promises to unravel the connections between these elements and the death of Neagley's friend.

'Neagley' is described as a hard-boiled, yet grounded, detective series that centers on a lone wolf protagonist committed to doing the right thing, even when faced with adversity. The spinoff aims to further explore Neagley's sharp investigative skills, her readiness to use force when necessary, and her distinct personal principles.

Sten, who was noted for her performance in the original 'Reacher' series, brings her established portrayal of Neagley to the forefront. The series also features an early cameo from Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher, acknowledging the lineage of the spinoff. The tone and narrative style are compared to other crime procedurals that operate with characters who exist outside strict legal boundaries, such as CBS's 'Tracker.'

The show includes mature content, including depictions of violence and brief nudity, consistent with the established tone of the 'Reacher' universe.

'Neagley' is available for streaming on Prime Video.
