Margaret Qualley reportedly initiated the separation from musician Jack Antonoff after experiencing "issues for the last few years," according to sources.

"At some point, the rose-colored glasses came off for Margaret, and she felt she needed to take a step back," a source told Us Weekly on Thursday. Factors contributing to the separation included "both of their busy schedules and distance," along with "many other things like lack of trust in the marriage."

According to the insider, "trust issues between both of them" made their relationship "hard." The source added that Antonoff "had expressed to friends" that "it was difficult being married and that there were struggles" in the relationship. Despite these challenges, the estranged pair "don’t have divorce plans yet."

Page Six confirmed on Wednesday that Qualley, 31, and Antonoff, 42, ended their marriage after nearly three years together. An insider exclusively told the outlet that "communication was definitely a challenge" throughout their marriage. "Jack could be very particular about how he liked things," the source explained. "He’d often prefer for things to be done the way he thought was best, and Margaret didn’t always feel like her perspective was being heard or given the same weight."

The songwriter and the actress, who married in August 2023, first sparked separation rumors when Antonoff attended Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding without Qualley on July 3. Antonoff was seen with his sister, Rachel, at the event. Photos at the time did not clearly show if he was wearing his wedding band.

Fans also noticed that Qualley had deleted photos of Antonoff from her Instagram account. Additionally, Antonoff reportedly removed the song "Margaret," which was inspired by Qualley, from his Bleachers tour setlist. The song was last played on June 13.

Qualley and Antonoff's last public appearance together was at the Grammy Awards in February.
