“Saturday Night Live” cast member Marcello Hernandez made a jest about golfer Tiger Woods' March DUI arrest during his hosting gig at the ESPYs on Wednesday night. Hernandez, co-hosting the awards ceremony, compared Woods to Caleb Williams, the quarterback for the Chicago Bears who was announced as the new cover athlete for the Madden NFL video game.

"Congratulations to Caleb — and Tiger Woods will be on the cover of ‘Grand Theft Auto,’" Hernandez quipped.

The joke alluded to Woods' rollover car crash in Jupiter Island, Florida, on March 27. The legendary golfer was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test. At the time, Woods was reportedly seen crawling out of his Land Rover following the incident.

Woods subsequently pleaded not guilty to the charges. He announced via X (formerly Twitter) that he would be stepping away from golf to seek treatment and focus on his health, stating, "I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today."

He added, "I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time."

In June, Woods reportedly checked out of a rehabilitation center in Switzerland. A source told People earlier that month that Woods' original plan was a three-month rehab program. The golfer is scheduled to appear in court for a status hearing on August 4. Woods has been involved in previous car accidents, including a severe rollover crash in 2021 that resulted in significant injuries to his leg.
