Manhunt Intensifies for Murderer Who Escaped Tennessee Prison
Jacob Morley, serving a life sentence for murder, is at large after breaking out of Northwest Correctional Complex.
A broad manhunt is underway for Jacob Morley, 28, a convicted murderer who escaped from the Northwest Correctional Complex in Lake County, Tennessee, early Monday. Morley is serving a life sentence for the March 2022 murder of his longtime friend, Cody Birchfield, whose body was discovered buried beneath Morley's home. He was also convicted of abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, burglary, and evading arrest.
The Tennessee Department of Corrections confirmed the escape and stated that a multi-agency search is actively pursuing Morley. Officials have not yet detailed how Morley managed to escape the facility. A wanted poster describes him as 5-foot-11, with green eyes and brown hair, weighing 240 pounds. He was seen with stubble in his mugshot, and another photo shows him with a full beard in prison attire.
Authorities are urging the public to contact 911 immediately if they have any information regarding Morley's whereabouts, emphasizing that public safety is their utmost priority. The prison department is coordinating closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure his swift apprehension.
