Police Scotland has confirmed the apprehension of Cliff Lyons Dobbie, a man serving a life sentence for the rape of a 10-year-old girl and the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old boy, who escaped while on escorted leave in Perth city centre on Thursday.
Dobbie, classified as a ‘restricted patient,’ has been held in secure facilities since 1990, including the State Hospital in Carstairs. No details regarding the specifics of his escape have been released.
Police Scotland issued a public warning for individuals not to approach Dobbie, describing him as a white man approximately 5ft 3in tall with a strong Glaswegian accent. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, white trainers, light blue ripped jeans, a salmon-coloured golf shirt, and a light blue jumper. He was also carrying a puffer jacket and wearing a black backpack.
On Saturday, Police Scotland Tayside announced that Dobbie had been traced. NHS Tayside reportedly assisted in the search. A spokesperson for Police Scotland stated, "We are pleased to confirm Cliff Lyons Dobbie has been traced. Thanks to everyone who shared our appeal."
