Manchester United and Chelsea Players Combine in Statistical XI

Sofascore has compiled a combined XI featuring the best-performing players from both Manchester United and Chelsea, based on average ratings across all competitions this season. The statistical analysis includes six Manchester United players and five from Chelsea.

In goal, Manchester United's Senne Lammens is selected despite the team's defensive struggles. The 24-year-old Belgian has been a notable presence, though he is yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League this season as United have conceded 13 goals already.

The central defense features three Manchester United players: Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, and Chelsea's Wesley Fofana. Maguire makes the cut despite the team's defensive frailties, noted for his improvement in possession. Martinez is included despite recent off-field controversies, with his personal performances remaining steady. Fofana, a significant signing for Chelsea, has been a regular in the team's back-three when fit, winning a considerable percentage of his defensive and aerial duels.

The midfield sees a combination of experience and emerging talent. Chelsea's veteran Jordan Henderson has become a regular starter, impressing with his performances, including a brace against Bournemouth. He is partnered by Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo. While Mainoo's dynamism has been debated, he has earned solid individual ratings and is chosen over Chelsea's Moises Caicedo.

Wingers Pedro Neto of Chelsea and Morgan Rogers of Chelsea are also included. Neto has transformed his game in a wing-back role, contributing goals and defensive efforts. Rogers, a high-value summer acquisition for Chelsea, has been a significant attacking threat with multiple goals and assists.

In attacking midfield, Manchester United's captain Bruno Fernandes is selected despite concerns over his on-field leadership and recent outspokenness. His statistical contributions, including four goals and one assist, still earn him a place. He is joined by Manchester United's Youri Tielemans, who, despite the team's struggles, has maintained a high pass completion rate.

Leading the line is Chelsea's Cole Palmer. Though typically playing in a more advanced role, he is placed at striker to accommodate his strong performance statistics, which include four goals and three assists. Palmer is set to return from suspension for the match against his boyhood club.

The combined XI highlights the statistical achievements of individual players amidst challenging seasons for both Manchester United and Chelsea, who are set to face each other in a highly anticipated fixture.
