Man Wounded in 2024 Trump Rally Shooting Dies

James Copenhaver, a man from Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, who was injured during the 2024 assassination attempt on then-presidential candidate Donald Trump, has died from complications stemming from his wounds. Copenhaver, in his mid-70s, was among the individuals targeted when Thomas Matthew Crooks fired shots at the Butler Farm Show complex outside Butler, Pennsylvania.

Crooks had ascended to the roof of a nearby glass manufacturing building to carry out the attack. Copenhaver sustained permanent injuries, including bullet fragments that remained lodged in his body, according to reports. He had also undergone multiple surgeries related to the incident.

A lawsuit Copenhaver filed against the United States earlier this year detailed the extensive medical procedures he required. A person close to Copenhaver's family confirmed his death, and the House Republican Conference also posted an obituary on social media stating he died on Thursday.
