Ray Weatherall, a man who harbored a desire to be reunited with his wife despite her conviction for plotting to have him killed, has died. He was in his early 60s. His family announced his death this week on Facebook.

Weatherall had been diagnosed with brain cancer in 2015. His wife, Hayley Weatherall, along with Ray’s best friend Glenn Pollard, had plotted to murder him after the diagnosis, hoping to be together. Weatherall survived a shooting to the face, an explosion from a swimming pool heater, and a plan involving sleeping pills and insulin.

Despite these attempts on his life, Weatherall maintained his devotion to his wife. He visited her in prison and, in a 2024 interview, described her as the victim in the case, claiming she had been manipulated by Pollard. "I want her to come back to me," he stated at the time. He expressed that she was still welcome at the family home because he loved her and believed Pollard was the instigator of the plot.

Hayley Weatherall was serving a life sentence for her role in the conspiracy. At the time of Ray’s death, she had approximately seven years remaining before she could be considered for parole.

Glenn Pollard and his daughter, Heather Pollard, were also convicted in connection with the murder plots. Heather Pollard reportedly conducted internet searches on methods for silent killing and how to commit murder without getting caught. Glenn Pollard was sentenced to a minimum of 17 years, and Heather Pollard received a minimum sentence of 15 years. The conspiracy to murder convictions occurred in November 2018 at Maidstone Crown Court. Ray Weatherall’s son, Sam, shared a photo of himself and his father on Facebook with the caption, "Fly high Dad."
