A man is set to stand trial for the murder of Shona Stevens, who died in 1994. Fraser Kilpatrick is accused of killing Stevens near her home in North Ayrshire, Scotland, 32 years ago.

Kilpatrick also faces numerous other charges, including allegations of rape against a woman who has since died and a young girl. The accusations detail instances of physical assault against both victims, involving punching, kicking, and the use of household items, a knife, and a screwdriver.

Further charges include accusations of child cruelty, involving wilful ill-treatment, exposure to drugs, and forced alcohol consumption. He is also alleged to have engaged in lewd and libidinous behavior and attempted rape against another girl, including attempting to coerce her into sexual activity with an unknown man. Separately, he is accused of attacking a young girl by touching her inappropriately and pouring boiling water on her.

The defendant is also alleged to have committed violent acts against men and women, including attempting to strike a man with a hammer, wielding a baseball bat at a woman, and brandishing a knife at two individuals.

Kilpatrick's lawyer, Donald Findlay KC, informed the court that his client pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecution, represented by Advocate Depute Alex Prentice KC, indicated that discussions regarding the case have been ongoing for an extended period. The court recommended that a judge be assigned to manage the case through its proceedings. Kilpatrick remains on bail.
