A disturbing incident unfolded on Interstate 55 in Chicago when a man was captured on video throwing a woman onto the busy highway Tuesday evening. The event occurred around 9 p.m. in the middle lane of I-55 South.
Video footage shows a white Jeep SUV braking suddenly in traffic. A man, described as slovenly-looking and wearing baggy black shorts and a T-shirt, exited the passenger side and appeared to flash his middle finger at other drivers. He then walked to the rear of the Jeep, opened the driver's door, and pulled the woman out by her hair, pushing her onto the highway.
The woman landed in the fast lane, coming within inches of being struck by a passing car, which swerved to avoid her. She lay motionless on the shoulder of the lane, with her shoes scattered nearby. The man then re-entered the Jeep and drove away from the scene.
Witnesses stopped their vehicles to form a makeshift barrier and assist the woman. One witness, who wished to remain anonymous, described the scene as terrifying, stating, "Initially, I was scared, I thought it was going to be a dead body or something." The witness added that they and others stayed with the woman until authorities arrived.
Illinois State Police confirmed they responded to a report of a battery at the location. The woman's current condition and whether the suspect has been identified or apprehended are not yet clear, as the incident remains under investigation.
