A man was shoved into a moving subway train in an unprovoked attack on a Bronx platform last month, according to police.

The incident occurred around 2:20 p.m. on June 27 at the Fordham Road/Grand Concourse station. The victim, 47, was waiting for a southbound D train when an assailant pushed him without any apparent prior interaction.

The victim did not fall onto the tracks but struck his head against the train car. He was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition with injuries to his face and mouth. The unidentifiable assailant fled the scene on foot and remains at large.

Surveillance footage released by the NYPD shows a slender suspect pacing on the subway platform, wearing a white undershirt and dark pants. Police are seeking public assistance and have provided a hotline and online tips portal for information.

While overall major crime in the city's subway system saw a slight decrease of approximately 1% in June compared to the previous year, data from the NYPD indicated a rise in felony assaults. Specifically, there were 20 more felony assaults reported in June year-over-year. Felony assault arrests on the subway also increased by 9% during the first six months of the year.

Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding the attack to contact the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline or submit tips through their website or X account.
