Man Shot in 2024 Trump Rally Assassination Attempt Dies

James Copenhaver, one of three attendees shot during an assassination attempt on then-candidate Donald Trump in 2024, has died, his lawyer confirmed Thursday. He was 76.

Copenhaver was in the bleachers at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when a gunman opened fire from a nearby rooftop. The bullet grazed Trump’s ear, and Copenhaver was struck in the arm and abdomen. These injuries resulted in lingering health issues, and he used a cane to walk.

Two other attendees were also shot during the incident. David Dutch survived his injuries, while Corey Comperatore died after shielding his family from the gunfire.
