A shooting occurred Sunday night at Harriet's Rooftop, an upscale bar on the Sunset Strip frequented by celebrities. A man was shot in the leg and transported to a local hospital, according to deputies.
The incident took place around 8:55 p.m. in the 8400 block of West Sunset Boulevard. Witnesses inside the ninth-floor lounge of the 1 Hotel West Hollywood reported hearing what they initially mistook for a champagne cork popping, followed by a second sound that clarified it was gunfire. This caused panic, with patrons rushing to exit the venue.
Deputies from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station responded to the scene. The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital by Los Angeles County firefighters, but his current condition was not immediately available.
Law enforcement officials stated that they are actively investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting and are working to determine if there is an outstanding suspect. The motive behind the incident remains unclear as of Monday.
