Man Severely Burned After Unprovoked Attack Outside NYC Restaurant
Police are searching for a suspect who threw a scalding liquid at a victim in East Harlem.
A man sustained severe burns to his face and neck after an attacker doused him with a hot liquid outside a New York City restaurant on Monday night. The assault occurred around 8:45 p.m. in front of the Cravin Crispy restaurant on Park Avenue near East 116th Street in East Harlem.
The 44-year-old victim was reportedly waiting for a takeout order when the assailant approached him from behind. Video evidence shows the attacker, carrying what appeared to be a steaming thermos, throwing an unknown substance onto the victim.
The victim, who stated he did not know his attacker, suffered blistering burns as a result of the unprovoked incident. Emergency services transported him to Harlem Hospital, where he is in stable condition.
The suspect fled the scene, heading north on Park Avenue. Police released a surveillance image of the man, described as having a goatee, wearing a beanie, a black jacket over a gray sweatshirt, black pants, and white sneakers.
