Man Riding E-Bike Fatally Struck by Pickup Truck in Bronx

A man riding a "two-wheeled device" was killed Wednesday morning after being struck by a pickup truck in the Bronx, according to police.

The incident occurred around 8:25 a.m. at the intersection of East 145th Street and Brook Avenue in Mott Haven. The victim was traveling west on East 145th Street, while the pickup truck was headed south on Brook Avenue when the collision took place.

Emergency medical services transported the rider to Lincoln Medical Center with severe head and body trauma. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. It remains unclear whether the victim was riding an e-bike, scooter, or moped.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 55-year-old man, remained at the scene following the crash. Police reported that he was not immediately charged.

The victim's identity has not been released pending notification of his family.

This fatality follows other recent incidents involving micro-mobility devices and vehicles in the city. On Monday, a 71-year-old bicyclist died after hitting a dog that ran into the street in Central Park, causing him to be thrown over his handlebars. Last week, a delivery woman was killed in Herald Square when a dump truck collided with her e-bike and then drove off. The 50-year-old cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of that incident.
