Following a suicide attempt that led to extensive medical intervention, Steve Kang recounted an intense, eight-hour experience he describes as a journey to hell. While surgeons worked to save his life, Kang perceived his own soul in a state of profound struggle.
Kang's ordeal began after a period of extreme distress, during which he reportedly consumed a 'death bowl.' This was followed by 10 days of severe insomnia. He described his vision of hell as a barren, cracked landscape devoid of life. During this time, he stated he was surrounded by enormous, cape-wearing evil spirits.
He believes his soul was in hell for eight hours. The experience concluded with what he perceived as a visitation from God, after which his insomnia ceased. Following this second perceived divine encounter, Kang states he was healed and discarded his insomnia medication.
Kang's family, including his mother, reportedly prayed intensely during his critical period. Doctors described his survival as a miracle, noting a significant scar on his stomach from the suicide attempt. He also bears a scar on his neck from the initial action.
Kang met his wife, Goeun Kim, after his alleged divine encounters.
Kang's father faced financial hardship after the 1998 financial crisis in South Korea. He now works as a preacher, aiming to help others avoid similar desperate situations and suicidal actions.
