A man was pistol-whipped and robbed of his luxury watch and cash outside a bar in New York City's East Village early Tuesday, according to police. The incident occurred around 3:20 a.m. in front of Josie’s Bar on East 6th Street near Avenue A.

The two assailants, who were strangers to the victim, approached him and began to pull at his fanny pack. One of the muggers then produced a gun and struck the victim multiple times in the head, causing bleeding. The assailants subsequently stole an unspecified amount of cash, a Timex T-Cell watch, and the victim's passport.

The victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition. The suspects fled the scene in a white vehicle and had not been apprehended several hours after the robbery.

The New York Police Department's 9th Precinct, which covers the area of the incident, has reported a decrease in robberies this year. As of Sunday, there have been 58 robberies within the precinct's boundaries, a 37% drop compared to the 92 robberies reported during the same period in 2025.
