A New Orleans man legally named Santa Claus was among 11 individuals arrested in an undercover sting operation aimed at child predators in Kenner, Louisiana. The 75-year-old suspect was allegedly attempting to meet a 15-year-old boy for sex when he was apprehended by detectives.
Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley stated that all the defendants pose a danger to youth and society. He cautioned parents about the vulnerabilities of children on social media and gaming platforms, highlighting the case of a man who dresses as Santa Claus and allegedly sought to exploit a minor. The suspect reportedly used a dating app to communicate with what he believed was a 15-year-old boy, but was actually an undercover detective. Police reported that Claus engaged in explicit conversations and made plans to meet before his arrest.
Claus faces charges of indecent behavior with a juvenile and computer-aided solicitation of a minor. Conley emphasized the police department's commitment to identifying and prosecuting those who exploit children online.
The operation resulted in the arrest of 11 men, with police expecting 10 more arrests. Other individuals apprehended include Jonathan Akers, Francisco Amaya-Paguada, Christopher Fava, Mario Herrera-Zeledon, Jamal Landry, Carlos Lopez-Reyes, Michael Lousteau, Johnny Pierre, Faustino Salanicsam, and Melvin Walker. It remains unclear if the suspect known as Santa Claus portrayed the holiday figure in any official capacity.
This incident follows a similar case in April where a Florida man, who allegedly interacted with thousands of children as Santa Claus, was arrested in an internet sting for offering money to an undercover detective posing as the parent of a 13-year-old girl in exchange for sex acts.
