Ryan Dinnage, 32, has been sentenced to eight years and six months in prison for raping a woman in her caravan after the Royal Windsor Horse Show in May 2022. The attack occurred in the early hours of May 16, following the final day of the equestrian event in Berkshire.
The victim was working at the Royal Windsor Horse Show at the time of the offense. The event itself ran from May 13 to May 15, 2022, and included a Platinum Jubilee celebration featuring celebrities and a carriage display by Lady Louise. The late Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh also attended the show.
Thames Valley Police reported the crime on May 16, 2022, and arrested Dinnage the following day. Initially, Dinnage denied any sexual activity with the victim. However, forensic evidence later linked him to the assault. He subsequently changed his account, claiming the activity was consensual.
Digital evidence recovered from Dinnage's mobile phone contradicted his claims and placed him near the victim's caravan at the time of the assault. He was charged by postal requisition on March 6, 2025, and later stood trial at Reading Crown Court. On June 8, a jury found Dinnage guilty of one count of rape. He was acquitted of one count of sexual assault and one count of causing a female to engage in non-penetrative sexual activity.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Arshid Ali stated that the sentence reflects the seriousness of the offense. "Thames Valley Police takes all reports of sexual offenses extremely seriously, and we remain committed to investigating these offenses thoroughly and bringing those responsible to justice," Ali said. "This has been a long and difficult process for the victim, spanning more than four years. I hope that the sentence handed down provides her with a sense of closure and allows her to begin moving forward with her life. I would like to thank her for the courage and strength she has shown throughout the investigation and court proceedings."
Dinnage is from Croydon in south London.
