A man in a wheelchair was set ablaze in an Oklahoma City crosswalk after a stranger threw a Molotov cocktail at him in an attack captured on surveillance video. The incident occurred near the Oklahoma City Police Department headquarters last Thursday.
Bystanders and first responders intervened to assist the victim, who is expected to make a full recovery. Surveillance footage shows the victim propelling his wheelchair across the roadway when the suspect approached, ignited the incendiary device, and threw it at him. The suspect then reportedly shoved the wheelchair.
Police apprehended the suspect, identified as Alexander Emery, shortly after the assault. According to reports, Emery admitted to targeting the victim at random. He faces charges including arson, assault with intent to kill, and assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
