Authorities discovered the decomposed body of a 58-year-old man with a knife in his neck inside a Brooklyn home on Sunday afternoon. Police responded to a wellness check at a brownstone located at 716 Madison Street in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood around 12:41 p.m., where they made the discovery.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Sources described the body as "highly decomposed," and noted a knife protruding from the neck. The exact duration the man had been deceased is unclear.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. The victim's identity is being withheld pending family notification.
This incident follows a similar discovery weeks prior, when a decaying corpse was found in a Staten Island home after neighbors reported a foul odor.
