Alexander Brennan, 54, appeared in court to deny the murder of Brodie MacGregor, 23, in her Glasgow flat on August 26, 2024. The High Court in Glasgow heard that Brennan was discovered covered in blood and with injuries to his hands and face on the day MacGregor's death is suspected.
Fragments of glass and blood were also reportedly found on clothing belonging to MacGregor. A witness, Tina Marie Hatton, testified that she found Brennan at her home in Camelon, Falkirk, wearing a bloodstained hooded jumper. Hatton stated she cleaned Brennan and kept the jumper, but did not wash it. She also observed injuries on his hands and above his eyebrow.
Brennan allegedly told Hatton he "couldn't stop" and was "done." Hatton testified that she would have contacted the police had she known who Brennan had allegedly attacked. The court heard the murder charge alleges Brennan punched and slapped MacGregor, repeatedly struck her with glass bottles, and hit her with a microwave plate.
