A confrontation occurred on the stairs of a London Underground station when a man refused to allow an 80-year-old woman to pass, filming her as he did so. The incident, believed to have taken place at Harrow and Wealdstone station, was captured on video.
In the footage, the woman, who was holding the handrail for support, stated her intention to go up the stairs. The man, however, blocked her path, informing her he was recording and asking her not to touch him. He told the woman she could "go round" him, to which she replied, "I can't."
The man then responded, "you can you've got legs." When the woman revealed her age, the man dismissed it, asking "so?" and reiterating that he was recording.
Frustrated by his behavior, the woman told him, "I don't give a damn what you're doing, you are extremely rude and arrogant." As other passengers passed by, the woman turned to a person in high-visibility clothing to complain about being blocked. The video ends with her still on the stairs.
The man who filmed the encounter faced significant backlash on social media after the video circulated widely. Online commenters expressed disbelief at his actions, emphasizing the woman's need for the handrail for stability and questioning his lack of respect for an elder.
British Transport Police have stated they are investigating the video. Transport for London has been contacted for comment.
