A man was captured on surveillance footage appearing to film under a woman's skirt at a grocery store in Fresno, California, on July 4. The incident occurred around noon at a store located near Peach and Belmont avenues.
The footage shows a man wearing a New York Yankees cap, a white shirt, dark shorts, and white shoes. He is seen following a woman through the store, at one point flipping his phone upside down and holding it near her while she looked at items in a refrigerated section. He continued to follow her as she moved to another aisle.
The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, stated that the experience was disturbing. "I never expected that a simple trip to the grocery store would turn into such a disturbing experience," she told YourCentralValley.com. "What happened to me is a reminder that us women should remain aware of their surroundings."
She expressed hope that other women would speak up if they encounter similar behavior. "It’s unfortunate that we have to think about our safety while doing something as routine as shopping, but incidents like this show how important it is to stay alert and trust your instincts," she said. "If something feels wrong, speak up, seek help, and report it immediately."
The Fresno Police Department confirmed that a general incident report would be filed, but they could not provide further details at the time of reporting, according to YourCentralValley.com.
This incident follows a similar event in Los Angeles County where a man was recorded on camera rubbing his genitals on a woman at a Whole Foods store.
