Man Filmed Riding Outside Moving SEPTA Train in Philadelphia

SEPTA Police are investigating a dangerous stunt captured on video showing a man riding on the outside of a moving train in Philadelphia. The footage shows the individual clinging to the exterior handrails of a Market-Frankford Line train as it traveled between stations.

The man, who appears to be wearing an earbud, is seen swaying with the motion of the train and leaning his head back, seemingly unfazed by the perilous situation. The train's route is identifiable as it passes through the 40th Street tunnel heading towards 46th Street.

Authorities are actively seeking to identify the man involved. SEPTA Police Capt. Marc Pasquarella expressed concern about the incident, stating, "I don't understand what makes people want to do something this dangerous." He also highlighted the potential for electrocution and the risk of copycat behavior inspired by the video.

The video, posted to Instagram on September 15th, has garnered significant attention, with over 2,000 likes. Passengers who witnessed or saw the footage expressed shock and disbelief. One commenter shared a similar experience, recounting receiving community service for riding on the outside of a train.

SEPTA Police have stated their investigation is ongoing to identify the individual and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. They are particularly concerned about the potential for others to replicate such dangerous actions after seeing them online.
