A man was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Walmart in North Lauderdale, Florida, on Tuesday after a dispute over a parking space, according to authorities. The Broward County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident, and the woman who fired the fatal shot is claiming self-defense.

The altercation occurred midday and was recorded on cellphone and dashcam video. Preliminary findings indicate that an adult female and the victim were engaged in a verbal argument regarding a parking space before the shooting took place. The sheriff's office stated that the shooter remained at the scene, cooperated with detectives, and asserted that the shooting was an act of self-defense.

Dashcam footage shows the woman exiting a vehicle parked in a space when the victim, identified as 62-year-old Bart Diguglielmo, approached her. The video depicts the woman holding a handgun and a cellphone as they moved around the parking lot. Diguglielmo is seen walking away from the woman before returning. The cellphone footage includes the woman's voice saying "walk away" immediately before the sound of gunfire.

Following the shooting, Diguglielmo was observed on the ground before a law enforcement officer arrived and appeared to apprehend the woman. Diguglielmo was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The name of the woman has not been released by authorities, and it is unclear if she was taken into custody.

The case will be presented to the 17th Judicial Circuit State Attorney's Office in Broward County to determine if criminal charges will be filed. A spokesperson for the State Attorney's Office confirmed they had not yet received any information from law enforcement regarding the case. A Walmart spokesperson deferred comment to local law enforcement.
