Mahammed Islam, 20, traveled more than 200 miles from London to Snowdonia in North Wales on September 27. An inquest hearing in Caernarfon was told that Mr. Islam entered Glaslyn Lake and subsequently got into difficulty, disappearing from his brother's sight.

Emergency services were alerted, and Mr. Islam's body was recovered by search divers the following day, according to Kate Robertson, senior coroner for north west Wales. A pathologist has provided a provisional cause of death as drowning.

Mr. Islam, who was from Stepney in east London, was described by his family as a "remarkable young man with a promising future ahead of him." They added that he was a "devoted son, a loving brother, and a cherished friend whose kindness and character touched the lives of all who knew him." His family stated that his "untimely passing has left his family, friends, and wider community heartbroken" and that he "will be remembered for the joy he brought to others, the memories he created, and the positive impact he had on those fortunate enough to cross his path."

"Mahammed will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by everyone who knew him. Our thoughts and sincere condolences remain with his family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time," his family said, also thanking "all involved in the search and recovery of Mahammed."

Chief Inspector Steve Pawson expressed that their thoughts remain with the man's family and friends, stating that enquiries are underway and thanking all emergency responders and mountain rescue volunteers who responded to the incident.
