Man Drowns at Southern California Beach Amidst Powerful Waves

A man died after being pulled out to sea at a Southern California beach on Sunday morning as powerful waves impacted the coastline.

Los Angeles Fire Department crews were dispatched to the 6900 block of Pacific Avenue in Playa del Rey at approximately 8:18 a.m. following reports of an individual in distress in the water. The incident was initially classified as an ocean drowning, according to fire department officials.

The victim was an adult male, and authorities stated that foul play was not suspected. Los Angeles County lifeguards attempted to revive the man with CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The powerful waves hitting the coast are part of a significant swell event impacting Southern California beaches.
