A 20-year-old man died in a high-speed car crash after his friend drove a rented Lamborghini Urus at speeds reportedly reaching 143 mph on a wet motorway. The incident occurred on December 21, 2022.

Mohammed Shaan Hussain had hired the supercar and initially drove it to collect Humaira Batool from her home in Bradford at 4 a.m. CCTV footage showed the pair swapping seats at traffic lights shortly after. Batool then allegedly drove the vehicle along the M62 at "grossly excessive speeds."

Leeds Crown Court heard that the Lamborghini smashed into a barrier, flipped, and caught fire just seconds after passing Stott Hall Farm, a landmark often referred to as "the house in the middle of the motorway." The car was traveling at approximately 120 mph when it passed the farm, and it came to a standstill eight seconds later after the collision.

Batool managed to escape the burning wreckage and was found on a grass verge. However, Mr. Hussain was trapped inside the vehicle. Bystanders attempted to rescue him, but their efforts were thwarted by flames and a subsequent "very significant explosion."

Batool is currently on trial at Leeds Crown Court, where she denies causing death by dangerous driving. Prosecutors allege that she "deliberately and willingly drove a very high-powered vehicle at excessive speed at night in the rain." She reportedly told witnesses that the flames had melted her seatbelt, allowing her to escape. The trial is ongoing.
