Man Detained in Guthrie Probe Rearrested on Unrelated Charges
Luke Daley, who was briefly held in connection with Nancy Guthrie's disappearance, faces new charges unrelated to the ongoing investigation.
Luke Daley, an Arizona man previously detained in connection with the unsolved abduction of Nancy Guthrie, has been arrested again on unrelated charges, the Pima County Sheriff's Department confirmed. Daley was booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Complex on September 30, 2026.
Daley, 37, has a history of felony convictions. In February 2026, police stopped him in a Culver's parking lot and subsequently executed a search warrant at his mother's home, which is located near Guthrie's residence in Tucson's Catalina Foothills neighborhood. At the time, authorities detained Daley as part of the investigation into Guthrie's kidnapping, which occurred approximately two miles away. He was later released without charges.
There are no publicly identified suspects in the abduction of the 84-year-old Guthrie, and her whereabouts remain unknown. A masked individual captured on Guthrie's Nest doorbell camera around the time of her disappearance is also still at large. Investigators have not confirmed the authenticity of ransom notes received by Guthrie's family through media tip lines.
Daley's attorney, Chris Scileppi, stated after his earlier release that Daley had no connection to the Guthrie case and no information regarding her kidnapping. Scileppi added that Daley and his mother hoped for Guthrie's safe return.
Daley's recent arrest is linked to pending drug and firearm charges. Prosecutors are also seeking to revoke his probation related to a previous drug and weapons case. He had been on probation for those earlier charges at the time of his detention in connection with the Guthrie investigation.
